Tex-Mex Breakfast by dal-designs
Tex-Mex Breakfast
While the original submittal was politically-motivated,  lichtie.deviantart.com/ got me thinking of a 'food porn' folder with lichtie.deviantart.com/art/821… .  How did I turn politics into food porn?  Simple: UK politician at breakfast made me think of the traditional English fry-up.  And that made me think, "what is our local version of a full English breakfast?"

I can think of two, actually.  Something like this is one of them: a Tex-Mex platter of eggs, beef fajitas smothered in onions and queso asadero, fried potatoes, homemade flour tortillas, and spicy ranchero sauce. Usually, there's refried beans involved, too (just not on this particular menu item).  There's countless variations, of course: three of my favorites are barbacoa, Mexican chorizo, or carne guisada instead of bacon or breakfast sausage.

If you ever find yourself in Texas and want to try Tex-Mex for breakfast, keep a few things in mind:

1) if you're not used to spicy hotness, you will probably get hold of something that burns you (although Tex-Mex spice is pretty mild compared to some African or Asian cuisine).

2) Mexican chorizo is nothing like Spanish or Philippines chorizo- and it is kind of an acquired taste.

3) For those who may not know: carne guisada is meat stewed for hours in gravy. If done right it is better than the best pot roast you can imagine.  And barbacoa is shredded meat from the cow's head and neck.  You don't want to know what chorizo is made of...

4) If the restaurant doesn't make its own tortillas, find another restaurant.

5) Try the horchata!

Old Reliable by dal-designs
Old Reliable
Early '50s model Chevy 3100.  I would guess pre-1957, as it doesn't have the same swept-forward cab look as the Apaches do.

Have a Seat by dal-designs
Have a Seat
Interior of my newest project truck. Original dash and steering column? Check.  Original window glass? Check.  Original pedals? Check.  Ugly, raggedy donor seats? Check.

I guess I'll have to find door inserts.  Given that the tailgate and bed alone are worth what I paid for the truck, I'm guessing those aren't going to be cheap.

Beatles or Rolling Stones? And which song is your favorite?

Me, I really can't choose.  But my favorite Beatles song is

My pleasure.  You have some lovely photographs- and anyone who works with perler beads has way more patience and finesse than I do :)
